at Eureka, CA ~ October 22, 1977
Tells His Story and Talks About Each of the 12 Steps
 A very good talk.
Clarence tells his story. He talks about the kind of drinker he was; he recounts some episodes and talks about how drinking affected him and his family.
How Dr Bob worked with him at Akron City Hospital. His experiences with the Oxford Group prior to the Alcoholics breaking away from it.
How the first group to meet under the name Alcoholics Anonymous was formed.
The growth of AA in Cleveland following the CLEVELAND PLAIN DEALER newspaper articles.
Deals with some things he feels are widely misunderstood one of which is Anonymity.
Talks about each step in sufficient detail to explain his method of working with people and how the steps are to be taken.
Clarence worked with thousands of people before his death in the late 1980s.
Occasionally I sell a CD to AA members who were sponsored by him and have successfully stayed sober for decades.
Clarence was sober for over 40 years when he passed away and actively worked with other alcoholics the entire time.

Alcoholics Anonymous First Convention Dr Bob Bill W

CD1 The Big Meeting
Dr Bobs Last Talk ; Keep it Simple and Love and Service.

Bill Wilsons Talk at the First International AA Convention. Bill recounts AA History up to that time.

He talks about the role of money in AA and other issues of importance.

Cd 2 and 3 The Traditions Meeting
Six Speakers from various parts of the country each talk about 2 of the Traditions.

There are some regional anecdotes. The speaker from Cleveland recounts the adventures of the first Cleveland Central office.

Bill Wilson talks in a general way about the 12 Traditions as a whole. He talks about some of the incidents that gave rise to the needed tradition. How various Traditions are applied to situations.

At one point he says "Today is the day, we think, that marks our emergance from adolescence into adulthood and so it is with great pleasure that I can make to you the announcement. The board of trustees have authorized the formation of a yearly conference composed of regional members of AA who can assume a part of the reponsibility for your services, your votes, your money, your public relations."

At the end of Bill talk he asks anyone opposed to them to speak up if they want to. Nobody takes him up on that.

"Then I suppose by general affirmation rather than any official act. We who are here in this hour of destiny may now be willing to rise and confirnm the Traditions of Alcoholics Anonymous" After he says this there is a vibrant standing ovation.

The Talks on these Cds are among the most historically significant AA recordings available.

Sound Quality is good.

Sandy B of Tampa, FL
at Richmond, VA ~ September 18, 2004
A different type of sandy Beach Talk. He talks at length about the Washingtonians, the Oxford Group, Roland Hazard, Ebby Thatcher and other people and things related to the spiritual History of Alcoholics Anonymous.
This talk is a great overview of this subject which would be of great benefit to anyone wanting an introduction to the roots of AAs Spirituality.
He points out that long before Jim Burwell insisted on (God) as we understood Him be included in the steps Ebby Thatcher told Bill Wilson "Why don't you choose your own conception of God?"(Big Book Page12)
Towards the end of the talk he gets on the subject of the Spirituality of imperfection and talks at length about working the AA program. Mostly developing a sane and reasonable practice of spiritual principles.
Great for someone who fears that any Higher Power must be unreasonably demanding.
Good spiritual advice based on long experience(Sandy has been sober since 1964). ]]>
