 Mel Barger is the author of numerous Grapevine articles and several books about AA.A wealth of information about the early history of AA.

George T though less well known than Mel is very knowlegable about AA History.
During the talks they remark that this will never be a "canned" presentation done over and over again. There is no script and I think the taping was done by the presenters.

I ain't what I wanna be,
and I ain't what I'm gonna be,
and I sure ain't what I oughta be.
 But thank God I ain't what I used to be!!!
There is a line in my book that
I like very much and since
no one ever quotes it to me I have to quote it to them.
That line is: "(...Being Alcoholic) It was
as if we were Siamese twins --
one of whom must die that the other might live."

Gertrude Behanna was the only child of a Scotch immigrant who had become very wealthy.
She had her choice of all that is worldly from money to entertainment.
In an inimitable fashion she tells her highly personal story of alcohol, drug addiction,three broken marriages
and attempted suicide. Sunk to depths of  moral and physical misery, her body wracked by
psychosomatic illnesses, a  physician advised psychiatry, but strangely Gertrude turned to Christ, the "Great Physician."
At age 53 she discovered that God was not dead ... that through the miracle of Christ's divine love and power ... drugs, liquor and despair itself could be conquered. Her health regained, she has spent at least 15 years touring the country, telling her story, giving
hope and encouragement to thousands in all walks of life.
In quoting from her own book "The Late Liz," Gertrude Behanna says,
"In standing aside and looking back at this woman I used to be, it is more and more possible to detach myself, to
view her in third person. She was she and I am I; Siamese Twins perhaps, one of whom must
die that the other may live."

A Very Interesting Set of Talks on the Steps and Seasons of Recovery.
The Seasons of Recovery is a very enlightening way to look at cycles in our moods and feelings as we progress in Recovery.
Often we look at dormant periods in our recovery badly. We think we are doing something wrong.
Don introduces the idea that this could be a "winter" season in your recovery.
After the "winter" will come yet another "spring" so don't get worried about it.
He talks about the this in depth and explains it better than I. He also goes through the steps with a seminar group.
Parts of these recordings involve interaction with an audience.
Because there was only one microphone much of the audience part of conversations is inaudible
However Don's explanations and answers are very worthwhile.
