The occasion was his 34th Anniversary of Sobriety in Alcoholics Anonymous. Bill gets a huge round of applause after being introduced. Bill speaks for just a short time before introducing Lois. She tells of a talk she gave 17 years ago and that that time Bill had been sober for 17 years and because he had drank for 17 years she considered them “even.” Now he’s got 17 more years. She is obviously very grateful. Bill then begins his own talk by saying that he wants to talk about the “Spiritual Experience” and will share a succession of short stories. Bill tells of many people he knew that said the program is working well but as far as the spiritual connection goes, we just “Isn't got the spiritual angle.” He tells of a young fellow who had been in the program for a few years. He had been having trouble with spirituality. He stood up one day and proclaimed that the radiator in the corner “Is My Higher Power.” Bill goes on to tell several stories of spiritual experiences and then he comes to Dr Bob. He gives a lot of credit to the woman that set up the meeting between them and then he introduces Henrietta Sieberling sitting in the audience. She stands up to a big round of applause. Bill says that when he met Dr Bob, he had found in him, a man that was very spiritual despite his drinking. In Dr Bob’s case his craving for alcohol was not lifted for about 2 ½ years later. Near the end of his talk, Bill says he feels at peace because he is very confident that “The candle of spirituality will be passed on and on, from hand to hand, from one generation to the next.” Inspiring. ]]> Thu, 26 May 2016 02:46:12 -0400 <![CDATA[Dr Bobs Son Smitty + Seacy Willis 2000 Spirit Of Houston -- $6.99]]> Dr Bobs Son Smitty + Seacy Willis 2000 Spirit Of Houston AA Old-timer Searcy who passed away a while back with well over 50 Years of Sobriety, and Dr Bobs Son Smitty at Spirit of Houston November 11, 2000. April-7-1990
Author of the Big Book Story DOCTOR ALCOHOLIC ADDICT(P.439 3rd edition) Dr. Paul's Big Book story is also in the 4th Edition on page 407 and there titled ACCEPTENCE WAS THE ANSWER.
In this talk he tells the audience how the story got written and included in the then new 3rd edition of the Big Book. The editors removal of the word ALANONISM. Tells several very funny stories about ALANON (these are anything but mean spirited; prior to his death several years ago Dr. Paul was an active member and participant in the ALANON program alongside his wife. He was according to the ALANON term a double winner). Talks about the power of the AA program by telling the story of his own introduction into the program by a non alcoholic Psychiatrist who attended just two meetings during schooling. The effects of this was great and it's benefit reached many people. Another story also highlights the power of a single AA meeting. Talks about the disease Alcoholism. His Sponsor Acceptance Ends the talk by talking about enjoying life. Often humorous and always interesting one of the best talks by Dr. Paul O that I have heard. There is a comment about the size of the audience which is also very enthusiastic. A spirited talk in an electric atmosphere. He doesn't only talk about his drinking and drug use. He talks about the concept of acceptance, and living life in sobriety. He tells some sobriety stories about getting and then living sober. A lot of good practical advice about livening a sober life of recovery.

Bob talks at length about the acute problem that is the alcoholics self voice. "My mind tells me..." ~ He tells of how his mind is like a vulture sitting on his bedpost waiting for him to get up in the morning so it can talk to him. ~Ultimately he winds up helping those of us who identify with this struggle learn to live with ourselves, and understand that what we need to listen to is our higher power and not our negativity prone mind. ~ At the outset of this talk the person introducing BOB asks the audience if it's alright if he goes over the allotted time. They respond enthusiastically that he can. ~ Relates that his mind is the worst enemy he has in sobriety. ~ Explains that there is a difference between the mind and the soul. The mind is constantly trying to lead him in the wrong direction. How within a person there is also a soul which can be led by a spiritual program. ~ Talks about the set of circumstances by which he came into AA. ~ He talks for well over an hour. ~ A very good tape for someone trying to practice rule 62 (Don't take yourself so seriously). ]]> Thu, 26 May 2016 02:46:12 -0400 <![CDATA[Earl Hightower 2005 Sober Relationships in AA -- $4.99]]> Earl Hightower 2005 Sober Relationships in AA

A Talk About Relationships in Sobriety by Earl Hightower of Studio City, CA
at Sober Vacation February 11, 2005
Earl Hightower is a great topics speaker. A topic talk by Earl is totally different from his story.
He barely mentions stuff he usually talks about and tells all new stories and talks about all new stuff.
He starts out the relationships talk by talking about them in a general way.
He points out that for a long time he thought he had to work on his "picker" that his big problem was not picking the right ones.
In time he found out that to make relationships work he had to work on himself.
He had to work on what kept him from having serene relations with himself, God and others.
He talks about those three areas for the rest of the talk.
Tells things that happened, stuff he did, and what he learned as he improved.
A really good talk lots of "Rule 62" good hearted humour and identification.

<![CDATA[Dr Ernie Kurtz PHD Spirituality and AA -- $4.99]]> Dr Ernie Kurtz PHD Spirituality and AA

He begins his talk by explaining the title to his book. Apparently many people take NOT-GOD the wrong way. They expect atheism but that is not the titles meaning. I AA we are supposed to stop playing God. The title is meant to convey that we of AA are not God and have stopped playing God. The reason he adds is simple "It didn't work".

In very simple but expressive language he talks at length about spirituality in Alcoholics Anonymous. Don't let the PhD after his name scare you he doesn't use long words or dry technicality. This is actually a rather exciting talk about an interesting subject.

He uses quotes extensively. He often quotes the Big Book and many other very interesting quotes. This is however a very original talk. Ernie doesn't parrot any speakers this is his own original material arranged by him from his years of study, observation and teaching. Quotes are used to amplify and support the points he is making.

This is a very good CD. Enjoyable to listen to and very informative

Dave explains that the point of his workshop will be "How to Be Happy?.
He uses a whole bunch of really great quotes.
One was so good I bookmarked it with a track. at the start of Track 6 of the Cd Dave Quotes George Bernard Shaw"This is the true joy of life; the being used up for a purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty one.Being a force of nature rather than a feverish selfish little clot of ailments and grievences complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy."
I Really Liked This Cd and Highly Recomend It!

Bob Earle is a Very Well Liked Conference Speaker Known for Not Always Giving The Same Talk.
There is very little talk by talk repition. Bob is a master storyteller who doesn't hide the fact that Living Sober Isn't Always Easy on Ones Mental Health.
A real Rule 62 outlook Bob tends to point out things we would rather not look at and make them kinda funny.

John "THE INDIAN"of South Berlin, MA
Source Tape Had No Details of Place or Date
A Very Good Example of Johns Message Best I've Heard

This is a really great AA Talk John tells his story of alcoholism and recovery. ~ Some the things he says are hilariously funny apparently without his trying to be ~ His experiences as a Native American growing up on the reservation. ~ The oldest child many of his siblings perished from tuberculosis; His experiences with the indifference of the authorities of the time. ~ Talks about his drinking and appearing before Judge Dorsey ~ How he got sober and started in recovery Some experiences in recovery and how he stays sober ~A simple uneducated man who prior to getting sober couldn't read and never had a drivers license. He talks with a simple wisdom that is lighthearted, but very helpful. ~

A great CD to have around if you can't get to a meeting but need one. A good mood lifter on a grey day.
