In this talk he tells the audience how the story got written and included in the then new 3rd edition of the Big Book. The editors removal of the word ALANONISM. Tells several very funny stories about ALANON (these are anything but mean spirited; prior to his death several years ago Dr. Paul was an active member and participant in the ALANON program alongside his wife. He was according to the ALANON term a double winner). Talks about the power of the AA program by telling the story of his own introduction into the program by a non alcoholic Psychiatrist who attended just two meetings during schooling. The effects of this was great and it's benefit reached many people. Another story also highlights the power of a single AA meeting. Talks about the disease Alcoholism. His Sponsor Acceptance Ends the talk by talking about enjoying life. Often humorous and always interesting one of the best talks by Dr. Paul O that I have heard. There is a comment about the size of the audience which is also very enthusiastic. A spirited talk in an electric atmosphere. He doesn't only talk about his drinking and drug use. He talks about the concept of acceptance, and living life in sobriety. He tells some sobriety stories about getting and then living sober. A lot of good practical advice about livening a sober life of recovery.

Lois and two very early Alanon Family Groups workers talk about the earliest days of Alanon. The office and many happenings at the 24th street AA Clubhouse, their work with groups and individual Alanons, the growth of Alanon, and the publication of literature including THE FORUM are discussed. They also talk about how Alateen was started, and the work of volunteers and staffers not present. The must have met outdoors (most likely at Stepping Stones) because you hear birds singing and the occasional mosquito being swatted. A beautiful recording of the Co-Founder of Alcoholics Anonymous wife and her close associates talk about the early days of Alanon Family Groups. This CD is specially formatted with "bookmarked tracks". The tracks all begin immediately before an new speaker or topic.

Earl Hightower is a great topics speaker. A topic talk by Earl is totally different from his story.
He barely mentions stuff he usually talks about and tells all new stories and talks about all new stuff.
He starts out the relationships talk by talking about them in a general way.
He points out that for a long time he thought he had to work on his "picker" that his big problem was not picking the right ones.
In time he found out that to make relationships work he had to work on himself.
He had to work on what kept him from having serene relations with himself, God and others.
He talks about those three areas for the rest of the talk.
Tells things that happened, stuff he did, and what he learned as he improved.
A really good talk lots of "Rule 62" good hearted humour and identification.

A very good talk by Bill.
Inspirational and in places humorous a very good example of Bill Wilson one of the founders of AA telling his and AAs story.
A Very Historically Significant AA Recording

 He begins his talk by explaining the title to his book. Apparently many people take NOT-GOD the wrong way. They expect atheism but that is not the titles meaning. I AA we are supposed to stop playing God. The title is meant to convey that we of AA are not God and have stopped playing God. The reason he adds is simple "It didn't work".

In very simple but expressive language he talks at length about spirituality in Alcoholics Anonymous. Don't let the PhD after his name scare you he doesn't use long words or dry technicality. This is actually a rather exciting talk about an interesting subject.

He uses quotes extensively. He often quotes the Big Book and many other very interesting quotes. This is however a very original talk. Ernie doesn't parrot any speakers this is his own original material arranged by him from his years of study, observation and teaching. Quotes are used to amplify and support the points he is making.

This is a very good CD. Enjoyable to listen to and very informative

A Talk About Alcoholics Anonymous and How It's Members Deal With Their Often Troubling Pasts.
The Role of Guilt and Shame in Active Alcoholism is also covered.

A Very Good Example of Johns Message Best I've Heard

This is a really great AA Talk John tells his story of alcoholism and recovery. ~ Some the things he says are hilariously funny apparently without his trying to be ~ His experiences as a Native American growing up on the reservation. ~ The oldest child many of his siblings perished from tuberculosis; His experiences with the indifference of the authorities of the time. ~ Talks about his drinking and appearing before Judge Dorsey ~ How he got sober and started in recovery Some experiences in recovery and how he stays sober ~A simple uneducated man who prior to getting sober couldn't read and never had a drivers license. He talks with a simple wisdom that is lighthearted, but very helpful. ~

A great CD to have around if you can't get to a meeting but need one. A good mood lifter on a grey day.

She talks about meeting Robert Smith jr and meeting his parents.
Her love and admiration for both Dr Bob and his wife Anne.
She tells how after attending a meeting at Kings School she congratulated Dr Bob on what a fine thing he had helped found.
How Dr Bob immediately told her that he was mealy an instrument and that God was AAs real founder.
Besides her connection with the Smiths she is also the daughter of the man who pioneered AA in New Mexico.
She briefly tells how her Dad got sober.
Then she begins talking about her own drinking; skid row on the living room sofa.
Her husbands denial and her hiding and sneaking drinks.
How she finally bottomed out and joined AA.
She talks about the people who helped her.
She talk about recovery.
The need for constant spiritual growth by keeping it fresh, and other things about the AA way of life.
Some really good history stuff and a great AA message.
